QUESTION: DO I NEED A PROVISIONAL DRIVING LICENSE TO TAKE DRIVING LESSONS?
​

​ANSWER: Yes you must have applied and be in reciept of your provisional driving licence to take any driving lessons. If it is your first driving lesson with us you will need to bring and show your instructor your provisional driving license before your first lesson.

HELPFUL TIP: You can apply for your provisional driving licence 3 months before your 16th Birthday but you can not take driving lessons until you are 17* (*please note there are some exceptions). QUESTION: SHOULD I CHOOSE AUTOMATIC OR MANUAL DRIVING LESSONS?

​ANSWER: This is entirely your choice. Many drivers say that a manual car is more fun to drive but harder to learn in. 
​In automatic vehicles, you don't need to manually change gears. This simplifies the driving process, especially for new learners. And most new electric cars are automatic.

QUESTION: WHICH DRIVING COURSE SHOULD I TAKE AS A Beginner?

​ANSWER: We have a range of driving courses to suit all our potential learner and experienced drivers. You can see which driving courses we offer and read about which driving course could be suitable for you by following this link - Driving Courses

HELPFUL TIP: If you are unsure give our drivng school a call and we can guide you through which course may be the most suitable based on your experience and speed at which you wish to learn. You can also see our learning to drive guide.

QUESTION: How long is a typical driving lesson?
​

​ANSWER: Our standard driving lessons are one hour long (1hr or 60 mins), but we can arrange longer sessions or intensive courses based on your local needs and personal preferences.

HELPFUL TIP: However we do not recommend you take a driving lesson of more than 2hrs as concentration starts to waver after this time and learning decreases. We would recommend you take atleast a 10 minute break every hour whilst you are learning to drive. This way you can rest, reflect and absorb what you have learnt.

QUESTION: DO I NEED TO PASS MY THEORY TEST BEFORE TAKING MY DRIVING TEST?
​

​ANSWER: Yes, absolutely! You must have passed and be in possession of your Theory Test Pass Certificate in order to sit your driving test. Theory Test must be done and passed first to sit your test.

HELPFUL TIP: If you have failed your theory test you can rearrange your Theory test after 3 days. See all you need to know about passing your Theory Test page which includes the Hazard perception Test.

QUESTION: Is there away to get a quicker driving test in Surrey?

​ANSWER: Yes, we can arrange driving tests with one of our instructors and one of our driving test complient vehicles in under 2 weeks, we have access to last minute and late cancellations at driving test centres in Surrey

HELPFUL TIP: If you are will to take your driving test at other driving test centres in and around Surrey we have a greater chance of securing a quicker driving test date. ​ANSWER: Here at Your Surrey Driving School we boast an impressive 75% pass rate for all our driving tests with students we have provided lessons for prior to taking their driving test with us. The national average is only 47%.

QUESTION: WHAT IS THE FREE DRIVING PART OF THE DRIVING TEST?
​

​ANSWER: The free driving part of the driving test is a crucial component designed to assess a candidate's ability to drive independently and now lasts for 20 mins and includes following directions from a Sat Nav.

HELPFUL TIP: During this free driving phase, candidates are expected to demonstrate safe driving practices while adhering to road signs and regulations. The use of a sat nav not only helps in navigation but also reflects the modern driving experience, where GPS technology is prevalent. Driving test participants should familiarise themselves with the sat nav system prior to the test to ensure they can follow directions confidently and effectively.
